The Tree

When you are hiking in the High Sierra (Sierra Nevadas) in Eastern California, you never know when you are going to run into an amazing sight.  Here is one of them.  I call it “the tree” because it is clearly one of a kind, is massive, beautiful, sculptured, weathered, just plain amazing to see.  I took many pictures of it because it was so incredible a sight.  This is just one of them.

This image was processed from two raw files into an HDR image, and then enhanced with Luminar.  Sometimes it takes a significant effort to recover the image as you remember seeing it.  This is due to the fact that your camera DOES NOT see like you do.  I try to explain this to other photographers, and some of them get it.  Images can NEVER EVER be like the real thing.  However, you can work on them so they evoke the same emotional response as the original scene.  This is my goal in photography.
