A spectacular sunset over Yosemite Valley and Half Dome, taken from a nearby ridge in the summer of 1999. Yosemite National Park is one of the jewels of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, but unfortunately there have been some severe forest fires recently which tend to spoil the beauty.
There was a time when the US Forest Service actually worked to protect the forests from massive fires. Now, in the name of “conservation” they allow the forest to collect lots of dead trees and plants, making it very difficult to NOT have massive fires. Just another example of how our country has grown more and more stupid in the last 60 years..
Anyway, this was captured on that hard to find “film” thingie, you know, Kodak Royal Gold? No longer available, but it was what we had to work with for decent resolution back in the dark ages of 1999.
And yes, I am from the generation that went from outhouses to iPhones in a single lifetime… 🙂
