Bryce Canyon under clouds and rain, 1994
Bryce Canyon! If you only go to a single National Park, this is the one! This view, from the rim, on a cloudy day, cannot do justice to the views you get on your hike down into the canyon itself. The sandstone colors are amazing and even startling. As you stand there looking, your brain is thinking “who Photoshopped this?” The colors are way too bright – they can’t really be that bright…! Yup. This was shot way back in the “film days” of 1994, captured on PhotoCD, and recovered via a special software program, as the PhotoCD format is long dead. I have over 100 PhotoCD’s – each with over 100 images. Yes, well over 12,000 images. They are all film-based, and need a lot of TLC to get them to look close to what they should look like. It is amazing to be able to actually restore them to where they are close to the original view, thanks to Luminar, a fantastic image editor from Macphun Software!
