Revelation 21:5

by Richard Trefrey

About the verse

This is a very comforting statement from the lips of the resurrected Jesus.  My body is beginning to become old and tired.  The very world itself is becoming old and tired, a ploughed-over field, where human endeavor has promised but not delivered paradise.  But Jesus will sweep his broom across the face of the cosmos.  He will purge the unfruitful vines.  He will flush out the stagnant waters and they will run pure and clean through a new garden in a new Eden, a new place where the old, the tired, and the sad will be made young and deliciously alive.

About the art

This piece dates from 1995, the same period as the Matthew 6:33 and 7:12 pieces.  A simple grid in cool colors encircles the lettering in the center.
