Philippians 4:8

About the verse

We are bombarded daily with negative, even demonic thoughts, that are designed to make us miss the pathway of obedience and stray from Christ.  I must cultivate nothing but good plantings in the garden of my thought-life.  There are many good and godly thoughts to delight, bless and edify the Spirit-controlled mind.  Why should I tolerate weeds in my garden?

About the art

The little garden at the bottom was fortuitously rather than intentionally symbolic.  A unique abstract curvilinear border circles the design.  The inner geometric border has echoes both of Islamic and of Celtic bandwork designs.  This is an earlier piece, from 1988, and is less geometric and more two-dimensional than my later work.
