Bryce Canyon National Park
These photographs were taken during a southwestern
US camping tour during the summer of 1994. Bryce Canyon -
unlike most of the rest of the 1994 camping vacation - was
wonderfully mild. At over 8000 feet elevation, the scorching heat of
June 1994 was a mere high 80's or low 90's, with cool nights.
Besides, Bryce Canyon has got to be one of my most favorite places
for taking pictures - the rock formations are just
incredible, and the color is amazing! At this time in my life, I was
using Kodak Ektar 25 film, with the misguided understanding that I
would have higher resolution images. It turns out that Ektar -
while very fine grained - was also very narrow on exposure lattitude!
And, for 18 MB PhotoCD scans, regular 100-speed film was more than
adaquate. Oh well, live and learn. Now, I am happily
switched over to digital, and can "change film speed" at the flick
of a button...
