Eastern California was the scene of much activity during the Gold Rush years, but as the gold veins were worked over, the “rush” died, and many were left with no work and no income. Many ghost towns can be found in Eastern California, such as Bodie. While the houses near Mono Lake are not a town, as such, they look very similar to those in Bodie. This particular one can be seen directly from Route 395, just sound of Lee Vining and Mono Lake.
