The Fisherman

One of my favorite places is in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, hiking around lakes!  This is a lake I visited many times, and in this case, captured a lone fisherman just after he turned off his motor.

The deep reflections and Kodachrome blue water remind me of Crater Lake National Park.  Although the rocks are not nearly as colorful around Crater Lake as here in the Sierra Nevadas.

For those of you who don’t know what “Kodachrome blue” is… back in “the day” when photography was done exclusively with film, you had the choice of so-called “reversal” film, also known as slides, color negative film, or black and white (negative) film.  Kodachrome and Ektachrome were two brand names for reversal film sold by Eastman Kodak, and the incredible blues from Kodachrome slides gave rise to the name.

This was captured in 2000 using a Canon Elan camera and Kodak Royal Gold 200.
