The Pyramid

I have a lot of fun naming rock formations I see in various locations in Utah. Some of them already have names, and if I like the name, I use it.  Otherwise, I make up my own.

This particular view I call “The Pyramid” as it reminds me of an Egyptian pyramid built into the canyon wall.  It is quite striking to the eye.

Hiking on the canyon floor trails can be dangerous.  In this particular hike, my wife ran out of water, and got pretty desperate – actually started talking about needing a helicopter to rescue her.  I did not want to spend $20,000 on a rescue, so I gave her all my water!  I did OK, so we avoided a very difficult situation.  It is quite hot during the summer, very dry, and easy to underestimate how much water you need for a mile or 2 or 3 hike!  Make sure you are filled up with water before you start!
